Associate Director / Technical Director – Building Performance Modelling Lead (West Region)
Location: Bristol or Cardiff, UK

About the Role:
As the Building Performance Modelling Lead for the Western region, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading sustainable building design initiatives, managing your own projects as the sustainability lead, and supporting multi-disciplinary teams to deliver innovative, environmentally responsible solutions. You’ll work closely with clients to translate their sustainability goals into practical outcomes, helping them achieve net zero operational energy, embodied carbon reduction, and other ambitious targets.
What You’ll Do:
* Lead building performance modelling efforts including Part L compliance, overheating assessments, and operational energy evaluations.
* Develop sustainability strategies for complex, multi-use developments and large portfolios.
* Drive business development by building strong client relationships and representing the team at industry events.
* Coordinate sustainability delivery across internal teams and external stakeholders.
* Support recruitment and professional development within the team.
* Prepare clear, high-quality technical reports and presentations.
* Stay up to date with UK sustainability legislation, planning policies, and environmental assessment methodologies such as BREEAM, LEED, WELL, and NABERS.
1. What We’re Looking For:
* Proven expertise in building performance modelling and sustainable design practices.
* Strong understanding of net zero strategies, low carbon design, and energy strategy development.
* Experience managing project budgets and contributing to bid processes.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
* Leadership skills with experience mentoring junior consultants.
* Relevant degree in engineering, environmental science, architecture, or sustainability-related field.
* Chartered status (or working towards) in a related professional institution is highly desirable.
* Certifications such as Low Carbon Energy Assessor (LCEA) or NABERS assessor are a plus.
* Ability to obtain UK Security Check (SC) clearance.
