We have an exciting opportunity for two highly motivated individuals to join our Internal Audit Team in the senior position of Auditor. You would support the service in delivering a comprehensive and varied range of internal audit services on behalf of the Council and our external clients, undertaking complex reviews and providing advice across all levels of the organisation.
The Internal Audit Service is a key player in influencing and informing the decision-making process on the control environment of the County Council and its partner organisations. It provides a primary source of assurance on strategic and operational objectives to ensure organisational outcomes are achieved.

Main Responsibilities
As a senior member of the team, reporting directly to an Audit Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of complex systems-based audits across the Council and supporting projects within agreed timescales and quality standards. Your role will also involve working with stakeholders across the Council and Partner Organisations, including Members, Directors, and Senior Management, supervising and supporting other team members, and supporting counter-fraud and special investigations under the direction of the Counter Fraud Audit Manager.

The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for candidates with risk-based audit and advisory experience, a proven ability to deliver a planned programme of work, and awareness of emerging risks, technologies, and innovations. You should be capable of safeguarding processes and assets while helping to create and deliver value across Staffordshire County Council’s operations.
* Be CCAB qualified (preferably CIPFA) or CMIIA qualified;
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying detailed information at all organisational levels;
* Attention to detail and accuracy;
* Thorough, logical approach, and able to work independently to meet deadlines;
* Relevant experience in an audit environment providing assurance and advisory services;
* Ability to anticipate risks and issues affecting organisational goals.
