Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a to join `The Reducing Restrictive Practices Team (RRP)` in a Band 5 Reducing Restrictive Practices Practitioner Role.

You will be working with the Reducing Restrictive Practices team members, Ward Based Staff and MDT members directly using a collaborative case management model approach, supporting specific case loads of patients and providing a service, 37.5 hours per week on an 08.00-16.00 hrs Monday to Saturday Pattern.

Main duties of the job

The role will include working with the Reducing Restrictive Practices team in conjunction with the Band 6 RRP practitioner, Nurse Consultant and the Band 4 RRP practitioner team members, the role is inclusive of an individual case load of patients and oversight/intervention with enhanced restricted patients across the High Secure Setting, a Supervisory role, there will also be a requirement for facilitation of training, Risk Assessment, Audit, report writing, attendance at meetings and liaison with internal and external stakeholders. (Full induction, training, mentoring and supervision will be provided).

The role focuses primarily on working with patients and with ward staff and MDT to minimise the use of all restrictive practices with a priority for Short Term Seclusion (STS) and Long-Term Segregation (LTS) and to support the management of direct care and treatment of any patient who requires STS or LTS; including follow-up for patient who leave LTS.

The post will be contributing to restrictive practice reduction quality initiatives in line with the Code of Practice MHA 1983/2025, the Use of Force Act 2018 and Human Rights Act 1998 and the increased overall wellbeing of the enhanced restricted patient group.

Essential criteria

1. Diploma in Reducing Restrictive Practices
2. Hopes model Practitioner
3. Demonstrable practice at a Band 4 or above level for 2 years. PMVA Trained

Desirable criteria

4. Degree level qualification
5. PMVA Instructor trained
6. PPE team trained
7. Leadership & Coaching Qualification.

Experience

Essential criteria

8. A demonstrable experience in the High Secure Setting.
9. Demonstrable experience and practice in the organisational Teaching/training environment
10. Demonstrable experience of Quality Improvement methodologies and participation in QI service developments A demonstrable experience of usage of Risk Assessment tools (DASA and HOPES BCC)
