We are delighted to welcome applications from outstanding, dynamic and suitably experienced individuals for the role of Piano Teacher. We have a vacancy for a piano teacher to teach individual piano lessons to primary children, aged 4 to 11 years. At the moment there will be approximately 5 hours of teaching, with definite growth in hours throughout the term. Lessons take place in the purpose-built practice rooms in the music centre at the senior school. Employment is on a self-employed basis with contracts made directly between the teacher and parents. There is a small termly room hire charge. We are a busy and thriving music department with an exciting performance and concert programme.
Key Responsibilities:
To teach the highest quality individual music lessons to pupils
To promote musical excellence and enjoyment of music by demonstrating instrumental skills to pupils.
To ensure the safeguarding of all pupils, in line with the school's safeguarding policy.
To ensure progress of all pupils by preparing and teaching lessons appropriately tailored for each student.
To have a clear knowledge and understanding of the requirements and marking criteria for music exams relevant to your instrument.
Use departmental systems of awards and monitoring concerns in order to communicate pupil's progress and/or concerns with the Head of Primary Music in a timely manner.
Where applicable, to communicate with parents pupil's progress and/or concerns.
The Ideal Candidate will:
Have a bachelor's degree in Music.
Proven success in teaching instrumental lessons to various ages and skill levels.
Professional performance experience.
Professional standard in playing main instrument.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
Strong organisational abilities to manage schedules, lesson plans, and student progress effectively.
Capability to adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs and learning styles of students.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and ethics in all interactions.
Genuine passion for music education and a desire to inspire a love of music in students.
The school has rigorous child protection procedures in place and the person appointed will be asked to supply information confirming identity and qualifications and will be subject to an enhanced DBS/Section 128 checks.
