Medical Secretary (Mental Health) – NHS Highland
Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive secretarial, administrative and patient co‑ordination services for Consultant Psychiatrists and associated medical staff supporting outreach clinics across Argyll and Bute.
* Cover for other secretaries during annual and sick leave.
* Maintain accurate medical records using office software and patient information systems (Microsoft Office, e‑mail, Hospital Intranet, TrakCare PMS, SciStore, etc.).
* Manage appointments, patient communication and clerical tasks to support effective service delivery.
Qualifications
* Significant medical secretarial experience with advanced office practice skills.
* Knowledge of medical terminology and proficiency in office software and patient information systems.
* Typing speed of at least 60 words per minute.
* Knowledge of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 is an advantage.
* Outstanding organisational, communication and problem‑solving skills; self‑motivated and capable of working both independently and within a team.
Working Conditions
This part‑time post is 21 hours over 4 days, based in Lochgilphead.
