Senior Risk Modeller – Asset Risk (Hybrid, London)

Overview
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Risk Modeller to join their Asset Risk function. This role is pivotal in forecasting key financial risks—including residual values, maintenance costs, insurance pricing, economic capital and customer pricing—while ensuring a robust and effective model risk management framework. Working within a matrix structure, you will collaborate closely with business subject matter experts to enhance, operate and develop forecasting models and support strategic and operational risk initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of the Asset Risk strategy, aligning modelling activities with wider business objectives.
* Oversee the implementation and ongoing operation of the model risk management framework, ensuring model health, governance, audit readiness and reporting accuracy.
* Lead the delivery of business-critical BAU modelling outputs across areas such as residual value forecasting, maintenance spend, insurance, customer pricing and economic capital.
* Maintain a deep understanding of model components, including design principles, data usage, assumptions, statistical techniques and operational processes.
* Deliver strategic modelling projects, ensuring shared ownership of outputs with business stakeholders.
* Coach and mentor team members, supporting skills development and capability growth across the modelling team.
* Build collaborative relationships across programme, product, modelling and data teams to reduce knowledge gaps and enhance cross-functional delivery.
* Promote best practice in modelling, risk governance and analytical capability across the organisation.
* Engage with industry bodies and external experts to ensure modelling approaches remain aligned with professional standards and best practice.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Asset Risk function, challenging existing processes and informing the strategic roadmap.
Requirements
Essential:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Data Science or a related discipline.
* Strong experience in forecasting, data analysis or a similar quantitative field.
* Proven experience delivering complex model updates, with the ability to communicate model outcomes to varied audiences.
* Proficiency with statistical software such as R, Python or SAS, and familiarity with forecasting tools.
* Experience managing complex projects and mentoring junior analysts.
* Excellent problem-solving, communication and commercial awareness with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
Desirable:
* Experience in a relevant industry (e.g., finance, retail, manufacturing).
* Knowledge of advanced analytical techniques, including machine learning and predictive modelling.
