Description
Keoghs LLP is one of the leading insurance law firms in the UK and is known for its dynamic approach. We are seeking a talented insurance lawyer to join our Property Risks & Coverage Team. This role can be based in Bolton, Birmingham, Bristol, or London, and involves handling high-value coverage, liability, and subrogated property recovery cases, typically exceeding £100K.
We offer training to handle liability and policy coverage files if needed. Flexible working arrangements are available for the right candidate, including location flexibility.
The successful candidate will manage a caseload involving various perils such as fires, floods, impacts, and product liability, working with well-known insurers. Leadership skills are essential, as the role involves managing a team of up to 3 lawyers.
This position is technical and client-facing, requiring a well-rounded lawyer interested in building client relationships through training, mentoring, and delivering legal solutions to complex issues. The role involves collaboration with partners Paul Annesley and Jonathan Bingham in the Property Risks & Coverage team. The team frequently conducts training seminars for insurer clients, and experience in client development is desirable.
Key Responsibilities
* Reviewing and reporting on cases, including funding considerations
* Investigating and gathering evidence to establish causes of action
* Conducting investigations with third parties
* Instructing counsel and experts
* Legal research and drafting
* Attending conferences and trials
* Managing correspondence and liaising with clients
* Negotiating settlements and drafting Part 36 offers
* Preparing pre-action and interim applications
* Driving litigation processes and assisting with ADR and court appointments
* Conducting advocacy in person and via telephone
From a leadership perspective, you will support the Director in managing the team, overseeing service delivery, professional development, recruitment, and performance management. You will also contribute to client development activities, including seminars and training events.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
* Qualified solicitor or equivalent with relevant technical skills
* At least 3 years of claimants' property litigation experience
* Experience managing a caseload
* Understanding of client KPIs and delivery

* Proficiency with case management systems
* Strong communication skills for liaising with senior claims handlers and clients
