: The Opportunity We are looking for an individual to provide technical support to the business in the area of the Future Combat Air System (FCAS). Working within the Capability Team, you will support the FCAS Concepting, Assessment and Technology Portfolio lines of effort. This support will include linking FCAS requirements with technical capability across Leonardo UK and the wider FCAS Industry Partners, identifying where there are gaps in the capability and then supporting proposals to find solutions and address ways of solving the technical challenges and supporting the route to certification. A key part of the role is to liaise and collaborate with a variety of technical and non-technical personnel within the organisation and with external stakeholders such as MoD, Dstl and other FCAS Industry Partners Leonardo operates a Custom Working environment, which provides considerable flexibility in how and where employees work and the role can therefore be primarily based at any UK site. Occasional UK and international travel is likely to be required. What you'll do as a Capability Engineer Ensure continuity between the Concepting and Technology Capability pillars within FCAS-AP and FCAS TI/Team TEMPEST. Primarily working for the Head of FCAS Technologies but also working closely with the Head of Operational Capability and the Head of FCAS Capability (MFP/DBB) as part of the capability team. Collaborate across the business to identify and explore gaps in capability and products and define and agree technical requirements. Identify appropriate technical solutions within Leonardo, International partners and wider industry that meet these requirements. Support, in conjunction with the lines of business and engineering teams, technology roadmaps, which identify maturity and the planned insertion points in the product roadmap to support stakeholder review. Support tri-national engagement with roadmaps to identify appropriate solution paths to delivery of the products. These joint roadmaps need to take into account a wide range of constraints including maturity, availability and system integration of technically diverse solutions. Support horizon scouting for disruptive technologies. Liaise with stakeholders to provide assessment and recommendations for next steps including an initial technology insertion plan and outline cost / benefits analysis. Facilitate technical reviews to provide a coherent review process for internal and external stakeholders including MoD. Provide input into Tri-national Test and Evaluation activities. As part of this activity, provide identification, analysis and recommendations for supporting test environments, facilities and joint test approaches. Collaborate across national and international FCAS / GCAP capability stakeholders What we need from you Degree educated, or equivalent, with career experience in the defence industry and a demonstrated experience of building effective relationships with relevant project stakeholders across Government and Industry Partners. Experience in the Concepting and/or early Technology Development stages of a Programme lifecycle would beneficial. Knowledge of and experience with the Test and Evaluation of Sensor and Communications systems would be an advantage. Also important is the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop the best solutions possible.
