The Controllers group safeguards the firm's assets, ensuring the integrity of Goldman Sachs' finances and expenditures. They analyze firm finances, objectives, and strategies to keep the firm's businesses profitable and compliant with regulations worldwide. Contact with various parts of the firm provides exposure to Goldman Sachs' businesses, products, and technology systems. The department supports hedge funds, private equity, and alternative investments within Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
YOUR IMPACT
A Legal Entity Controller in the Financial Reporting department will oversee several legal entities, managing responsibilities from journal entries to the preparation of annual financial statements.
Responsibilities
1. Preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts and quarterly reporting to the US under US GAAP.
2. Preparation, review, and analysis of reporting to the Federal Reserve Board.
3. Preparation and review of financial statements under UK GAAP, including liaising with auditors.
4. Preparation of board reports.
5. Preparation and explanation of monthly P&L estimates to the trading desk and coordination with Product Control.
6. Coordination with US and UK tax teams on tax issues, VAT returns, and submission of tax returns.
7. Understanding the business and communicating developments effectively to team members.
8. Identifying improvements to manual processes and management reporting for higher value work.
9. Participation in department-wide and cross-departmental projects and initiatives.
Skills and Experience
1. Qualified accountant – ACA (up to 2-4 years PQE).
2. Accounting knowledge from audit or accounting roles.
3. Experience with audited financial statements under UK GAAP or IFRS is advantageous.
4. Strong analytical and attention to detail skills.
5. Excellent communication skills, especially for third-party reporting.
6. Ability to work in a driven team environment and under pressure.
7. Proficient in Word and Excel.
8. European language skills are a plus.
