Centre Manager – Alternative Provision (Ages 7–25)
Location: Torquay (On-site, covering South West: Torquay / Exeter / Taunton)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent (40 hours per week – flexible working pattern)
Salary: £32,000–£34,000 per annum
Reports to: Head of Operations
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, confident, and values-driven Centre Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our Alternative Provision centre in Torquay.
This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing provision for children, young people, and
young adults aged 7–25, including:
* Alternative Provision
* Post-16 education and transition pathways
* Enrichment activities (after-school clubs, holiday clubs, and birthday parties)
You will be responsible for ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment, leading
staff, supporting learners, and maintaining high standards of safeguarding, quality, and
compliance.
Responsibilities
* Lead the daily operation of the centre, ensuring high-quality delivery across all provision
* Line-manage and support staff, including recruitment, supervision, rotas, and CPD
* Oversee learner engagement, attendance, progress, and outcomes
* Manage the Post-16 offer, including placements and transitions
* Coordinate enrichment activities, ensuring excellent experiences for families
* Act as the on-site lead for safeguarding, health & safety, and compliance
* Build strong relationships with parents, carers, schools, local authorities, and partners
* Ensure the centre remains audit-ready, well-resourced, and professionally run
* Oversee the management and maintenance of the centre building, including cleaning, maintenance, and site health & safety checks, and liaison with contractors to ensure the site remains safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.
About You
You will be:
* An experienced manager within education, alternative provision, SEND, youth work,or similar settings
* Confident leading teams and managing complex, multi-strand provision
* Passionate about supporting young people with diverse and complex needs
* Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable with operational responsibility
* Committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice
* Experience working with SEND, Post-16 learners, enrichment programmes, or alternative education is highly desirable.
