As a Fleet Co-ordinator, you will take ownership of the administrative and compliance processes that ensure the Council’s fleet operates safely, legally, and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include planning and scheduling inspections and statutory tests, maintaining accurate records, and managing vehicle licensing and contract hire arrangements. You will also oversee reporting, audits, and contribute to projects that enhance fleet performance and shape future policies. You’ll supervise and support Technical Support Assistants, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time, and work closely with workshops, suppliers, and service managers to deliver a high-quality, value-for-money fleet service. Your work will directly impact the reliability of essential services across the city, while optimising asset utilisation and ensuring compliance with all legislative and policy requirements. We’re seeking a resilient, highly organised individual with excellent administrative skills and a keen eye for detail. You’ll have a solid understanding of transport legislation and compliance requirements, with the ability to interpret data and produce clear, accurate reports. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you’ll collaborate with colleagues, suppliers, and service managers to deliver a high-quality fleet service. You must be able to lead your team, being accountable and responsible for your own performance and the quality of the team’s output. You’ll motivate and support Technical Support Assistants, set clear standards, and ensure tasks are completed accurately and on time in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change. You’ll be confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Office. Experience with fleet management software is an advantage, but not essential.
