Job Summary
Lead Vascular Scientist / Sonographer (Annex 21) at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. The role is a senior position within Radiology, responsible for developing and managing the vascular ultrasound (US) service, leading implementation of best practice, and ensuring the service complies with national, CTMUHB, and legislative requirements.
Responsibilities
* Lead and develop the Vascular US service within CTMUHB.
* Manage the budget, delivery of local access and activity targets, and clinical governance.
* Build relationships with internal and external bodies to identify and evaluate new best‑practice initiatives.
* Lead sonographer training across the three acute sites.
* Ensure the service is safe, efficient, cost‑effective and meets operational performance targets (governance, staff competence, access, activity, finance).
* Contribute to CTMUHB‑wide activities as required.
Qualifications
* Professional registration with HCPC.
* Evidence of training and audit experience.
* Vascular ultrasound experience and accreditation (e.g. SVT).
* Experience managing a vascular ultrasound service.
* Previous management experience desirable.
* Welsh language skills Level 3 (B2) or above desirable but not essential.
Training & Remuneration
The post offers a 24‑month training/development programme. Salary is paid according to Annex 21: 70% of the top of Band 8a during months 1‑12, 75% during months 13‑24. Upon successful completion of the qualification, the post holder moves to the bottom of the Band 8a pay scale without financial detriment.
Benefits & Working Conditions
Permanent, full‑time role (Band 8a) with a salary range of £58,379 to £65,723 per annum. Working pattern is full‑time, based at Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant, CF72 8XR, United Kingdom.
