Pay and Hours
Our Shift Leader rate of pay starts from £15.59 an hour, increasing to £16.86 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location. We offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week, with the option to work fewer hours (minimum of 12) for those who prefer flexibility.
Responsibilities
* Work in a fast‑paced retail environment, handling a wide range of tasks.
* Take ownership of running duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well‑stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.
* Be present for customers, listening to them and ensuring they leave the store with what they came for.
* Look for ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and giving feedback to the team.
* Guide and support colleagues in‑store, ensuring it remains a safe place to work and shop.
* Maintain a solid understanding of store performance and assist managers in delivering actions that improve operations.
* Lead from the front and set a positive example for colleagues in everything you do.
* Support colleagues in delivering daily priorities and taking regular breaks.
* Open and close the store, completing duty cover and ensuring all decisions are made safely.
* Act as the go‑to person for colleagues in the absence of a manager for day‑to‑day queries.
* Ensure the store is always clean, tidy and well‑presented.
* Support managers in coordinating seasonal, community and charity events.
* Contribute to a positive team atmosphere that is inclusive of everyone.
* Provide great customer service by listening to customers and putting them first in everything you do.
* Keep the team well‑informed and up to speed on any communications, changes or updates.
* Stay knowledgeable about store performance and seek ways to improve and simplify operations.
* Coordinate store improvements and remove obstacles that hinder great service.
* Follow health and safety routines and procedures, ensuring colleagues do the same.
* Recognise and celebrate colleagues who provide outstanding service.
* Build strong, long‑lasting relationships with colleagues to create an inclusive team atmosphere.
* Communicate clearly, using a variety of methods to keep your team informed and up to date.
* Take the lead and oversee the store in the absence of your manager.
* Make sound decisions, remain flexible, and confidently handle change to ensure everything is done right for customers and colleagues.
* Motivate the team to deliver beyond expectations.
* Remain curious and constantly seek ideas and opportunities to better serve customers, communities, and the planet.
