The SHEQ Coordinator ensures that the organisation's safety, health, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) management systems are effectively maintained and continually improved. This role supports the SHEQ team by managing documentation, coordinating audits, monitoring performance, and communicating critical information to internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate is detail orientated, proactive, and passionate about creating a culture of excellence in SHEQ.
As the SHEQ Coordinator, you'll play a key role in ensuring health, safety, environmental, and quality standards are consistently met across all Depots. This is a hands-on role where you'll be involved in everything from site audits to compliance reporting and policy implementation.
We are looking for a motivated and detail-orientated SHEQ Coordinator to join our dynamic team. This hands-on position requires a team player who can work closely with every department on daily operations, promote a positive Health & Safety culture throughout the business, actively implement and monitor Health & Safety systems and provide support to all operational teams and internal departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the maintaining, updating, and control all SHEQ policies, procedures, and records.
Assist in planning and executing internal and external audits, ensuring that findings are documented, and corrective actions are followed through.
Prepare, collate, and distribute audit reports highlighting compliance levels and areas for improvement.
Compile and generate reports, including incidents, accidents, near miss and non-conformances.
Liaise with operational teams, management, and external stakeholders to communicate Health & Safety standards and updates
Monitor ongoing operations to ensure compliance with relevant UK health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations.
Assist with scheduling, organising, and tracking training sessions, safety inspections, and regular safety drills.
Provide support in the management of documentation, including the distribution of communications and updating of training materials.
Assist in the development and implementation of safety programs and policies
Work closely with site teams and senior leadership to support continuous improvement
Assist with Accident, Incident and Near-Miss Investigations.
Attend meetings as and when required to assist with notetaking, minute-capturing and tracking of actions.
Personal Specification:
Experience in construction, civils, or groundworks is essential
A minimum of GCSE or equivalent; qualifications in health and safety, quality assurance, or environmental management are an advantage.
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Confident communicator with a proactive, problem-solving mindset
Approx. 3 years of experience in a similar role
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Effective communication - both written and verbal - with a proactive and solution-driven mindset.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.
A proactive attitude towards developing and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment is essential.
Ability to build strong working relationships within the SHEQ team and across other departments to facilitate a culture of continuous improvement.
Analytical & Data-focused
IT Literacy (MS Office)
Basic understanding of UK statutory regulations for health, safety, and the environment.
