Team Leader (Customs Brokerage) at Customs Support Group
To lead a Team in order to provide operational requirements and service levels which have been agreed with our clients in a timely and efficient manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To lead the team by example and ensure all Company policies and processes are being adhered to
2. Responsible for issuing and dividing the daily tasks to the team when applicable
3. Mentoring the team
4. Assist with monthly reporting to management
5. To assist with queries & issues to help the team meet their targets if needed
6. Holiday and absence authorisation and monitoring & carrying out return to work interviews, updating documentation and uploading to YouManage
7. Carrying out effective 1-2-1 meetings and appraisals with the team
8. Prepare & check documentation according to Customs regulations, laws, and/or procedures
9. Stay abreast of changes in import/export rules
10. Request or compile necessary documentation, such as commercial invoices, Packing Lists, Certs. Of Origin etc.
11. Advise customers & the team of any Customs-related matters that might be applicable to them
12. Confer with officials in various agencies to facilitate clearance of goods through Customs
13. Maintain relationships with shipping lines and freight forwarders to expedite clearing of cargo
14. Oversee the day to day running of operations for our customers
15. Be a point of contact / escalation for the OOH support team (on a rota with other Team leaders) to assist the 24/7 shift with any issues and escalate where necessary
16. Manage and onboard new customers/work into our current workflow as not to disrupt other customer’s service

19. Apply company policies, standards and guidance and ensure colleagues understand how the guidelines will affect their work

20. The work is mainly office based

26. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the below sectors:
Import and/or export Customs brokerage
Customs compliance
General freight forwarding Role
Use & understanding of port linked inventory systems + GVMS
27. A basic understanding of the Microsoft Office suite
28. An awareness of confidentiality of data
29. Ability to be flexible and contribute to other areas of the business where require
30. Strong Customs knowledge
31. Understanding of CDS.
