Siemens has opened its first UK Rail Industry Hub near Goole, East Yorkshire, initially assembling 80 trains for London’s Piccadilly line and recruiting over 300 skilled staff. With plans to scale production into the hundreds and add maintenance operations, Siemens demonstrates a strong commitment to regional growth and job creation.
Position Overview
We are now looking for an experienced Project Planning Manager to lead the planning activity for Siemens Manufacturing and Commissioning Testing (including System Integration Testing) on the Piccadilly Line Upgrade Programme. The role involves managing schedules using Primavera EPPM P6 Oracle project planning tools.
Location and Travel
The successful candidate may be based in London with flexibility to travel to Goole Rail Village for workshops and meetings, or based in Goole with a willingness to travel to London for regular TfL meetings. Occasional travel to the RIDC Test Centre and Wildenrath Test Centre in Germany may also be required.
Key Responsibilities
1. Stakeholder Engagement: Build trust-based relationships with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and data validation.
2. Program Leadership: Lead the program team in developing scenario planning and mitigation strategies, creating adaptable project plans.
3. Schedule Development: Develop comprehensive project schedules covering manufacturing and commissioning phases.
4. Schedule Alignment: Create project/bid schedules aligned with tender and contractual documents, ensuring internal stakeholder agreement.
5. Interface Management: Manage dependencies and create what-if scenarios with stakeholder approval.
6. Progress Monitoring: Monitor scheduled tasks, update progress, and perform variance analyses against baselines.
7. Risk Management: Identify risks and delays early, implementing mitigation measures.
8. Reporting: Generate reports like Milestone Trend Analysis, S-Curves, and Customer Progress Reports.
Candidate Requirements
1. Expertise in project planning, scheduling, and control methods, including network planning and Milestone Trend Analysis.
2. Proficiency in Primavera EPPM P6 or similar tools (e.g., MS Project) and resource management knowledge.
3. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a structured work approach.
4. Effective communication, moderation, and presentation skills, with teamwork experience.
5. Self-motivated, able to work independently, and willing to travel as needed.
6. Fluent in English; German language skills are a plus.
