Donnington Valley Group is seeking an experienced and driven Director of Sales to join their team. This is an exciting time with investment underway and a rebranding project to elevate the previous proposition. The group includes Donnington Valley Hotel & Spa, The Kingfisher Pub & Rooms, The Post Barn, Deanwood Park, and The Vineyard Cellars.
With your interpersonal skills, independence, professionalism, inquisitiveness, and passion for excellence, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact. As the Director of Sales, you will leverage your proven sales expertise, outstanding communication skills, and innovative ideas to actively drive business to the hotel. The role requires the candidate to be based onsite at the head office in Newbury two to three days a week, with travel across the country essential.
Key responsibilities include:
* Proactively driving new business into the hotels and event venues
* Managing and developing the Business Development team
* Coordinating sales activities to maximize revenue and minimize loss from existing accounts at hotel, national, and international levels
* Targeting and contracting new direct, consortia, and agency business aligned with hotel objectives for domestic and international markets
Developing and implementing strategic commercial plans to source, drive, and grow revenue across MICE and corporate transient segments, with continuous monitoring and adjustment to meet targets.
* Managing a portfolio of existing and prospective accounts, leading rate negotiations and account management to maximize market share
* Negotiating and developing local partnerships and sponsorships for profitable collaborations
* Participating in weekly revenue meetings for forecasting business mix and revenues
* Conducting weekly appointments with agents and clients
* Representing the group at local networking and trade events

Required experience and skills:
* Minimum of ten years of corporate sales experience
* Current contacts and experience within MICE markets
* Proven success in account management and business development
* Self-motivated, proactive, and positive attitude
* Tenacious, ambitious, and accountable; ready for the next career level
* Strong communication and presentation skills
* Eligible to work in the UK
