Job Description
We’re looking for a proactive, curious and well‑organised individual to join our Legal & Governance team as a Company Secretarial Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about corporate governance and keen to develop a career in company secretarial work. Whether you already have relevant experience or you’re stepping in from a related background such as paralegal work, we’d love to hear from people who bring enthusiasm, integrity and a can‑do mindset.
What you’ll be doing:
* Providing high‑quality board and committee support, including preparing agendas, distributing packs and managing meeting logistics
* Maintaining statutory records and ensuring timely filings
* Acting as Secretary to subsidiary entities or divisional committees with appropriate support
* Drafting accurate and concise minutes
* Supporting Group‑wide governance projects, including AGM delivery and annual reporting activity
* Assisting with governance work on transactions, including drafting resolutions and supporting legal entity changes
* Managing the team’s shared mailbox and responding to stakeholder queries
* Building effective relationships across the business and undertaking horizon‑scanning to identify regulatory or governance developments
Who we’re looking for:
* Interest in corporate governance and enthusiasm for building a career in the company secretarial profession
* Willingness to begin (or continuation of) the Chartered Governance Institute Qualifying Scheme or an equivalent governance qualification
* Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
* Ability to build trusted relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
* High levels of personal and professional integrity
* Clear and confident written communication skills, including the ability to produce minutes
* An understanding of the Companies Act 2006 and UK Corporate Governance Code (desirable)
* Experience of board support, governance work or use of tools such as Diligent (desirable but not essential)
