Role: Technologist – Motorcycle
Location: Kettering, UK
Salary: Up to £29,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Interaction Recruitment is currently looking for a Technologist to join a leading Safety Product Testing team in Kettering. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a specialised and dynamic environment supporting the testing and development of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for a global customer base.
About the Department
The Safety Product Testing department carries out accredited testing on a wide range of PPE to ensure compliance with international and European standards. Products tested include:
* Motorcycle garments
* Gloves
* Fall protection
* High-visibility clothing
* Eyewear and helmets
* Hearing protection
* Chainsaw garments
* Kneepads and sports protection
The department is equipped with specialised laboratories and testing machines operated by a team of around 25 multiskilled technicians, technologists, and support staff. Test results are used to support product development and certification applications (CE and UKCA).
About the Role
This Technologist position will focus primarily on testing motorcycle garments such as jackets, trousers, race suits, gloves, and impact protectors. Over time, involvement in other PPE testing areas may be required.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform routine physical testing in line with international and European standards
* Operate specialised test equipment and accurately record results
* Prepare and generate detailed test reports
* Communicate with customers via email, phone, and in person
* Handle technical queries and advise on required testing
* Input and manage data using Dynamics software
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
* Represent the organisation at webinars, seminars, trade shows, and customer visits
Full training will be provided for all elements of the role as needed.
About You
Essential Requirements:
* High attention to detail and accuracy
* Self-motivated with a logical, methodical approach
* Able to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong communication, time management, and organisational skills
* Confident with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
* Comfortable working with customers and managing enquiries
Desirable Skills:
* Experience in a laboratory environment or working to standards
* Familiarity with PPE or clothing manufacturing
* Experience using database systems (especially Dynamics)
* Understanding of quality management systems
* Ability to travel if required
* Additional language skills
