Town Planner
Locations: Wells or Exeter
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 (DOE)
We are working with a well-established and growing planning and architecture consultancy that is looking to strengthen its team with the appointment of an experienced Town Planner. The role can be based from either the Wells or Exeter office, offering flexibility and exposure to a diverse project portfolio across the South West.
The consultancy is known for its collaborative approach, providing pragmatic and commercially focused planning advice to clients across residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
The Role
As a Town Planner, you will be involved in the preparation and management of planning applications and appeals, supporting projects from early feasibility through to determination. You will work closely with clients, local authorities and internal teams, contributing to high-quality, deliverable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and prepare planning applications, supporting statements and associated documentation
* Coordinate with clients, architects, consultants and local authorities
* Undertake planning appraisals and provide development advice
* Support appeals, pre-applications and stakeholder engagement
* Monitor planning policy and contribute to site promotion work
* Assist with project delivery to agreed timescales
About You
* Degree-qualified in Town Planning or a related discipline
* MRTPI, working towards Chartership, or equivalent experience
* Experience within a UK planning consultancy or local authority
* Strong understanding of the UK planning system
* Confident communicator with good written and verbal skills
* Able to work independently while contributing to a team environment
