An Assistant Private Secretary opportunity is available on an interim basis for 6 months, working for a large government department. This role requires candidates to hold SC clearance.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal part in the effective operation of the Chief Finance Officer's Directorate. We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed individual with exceptional communication skills who prides themselves on delivering high-quality service and providing effective solutions.
As an Assistant Private Secretary, you will provide direct administrative support to the Chief Finance Officer. You will work closely with the directorate's Senior Leadership Team and wider business functions to ensure smooth office operations, including managing the Director's busy diary and inbox. You will collaborate with Private Secretaries and Business Managers across the directorate to facilitate seamless interaction within the team.
This position is ideal for an ambitious individual experienced in multitasking and prioritising tasks to ensure the efficient running of the office. You will work closely with the Director and engage with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supporting the Chief Finance Officer with appointment setting, calendar management, travel arrangements, and correspondence.
2. Acting as the point of contact between the Chief Finance Officer and colleagues, anticipating needs to improve efficiency.
3. Managing the Chief Finance Officer's inbox, requesting additional information as needed, and responding on behalf of the Directors.
4. Coordinating staff meetings, taking and distributing notes, and tracking actions.
5. Owning the content on the Chief Finance Officer’s intranet and SharePoint sites.
6. Supporting the organisation of team away days and events.

Additional Information
This is a 6-month temporary assignment with potential for extension. The role is inside IR35, offering a competitive day rate through an umbrella company. Flexible working arrangements are available. Sponsorship is not provided. Applicants must be SC cleared.
