Overview
Senior Nursing role in the Children’s Department across two sites: Queen’s Hospital, Romford and King George’s Hospital, Ilford. The team provides general medical and surgical services, NICU care (32 cot level 2), community and outreach support, and a multidisciplinary approach led by the Director of Nursing for Child Health. The department includes Clinical Nurse Specialists, a Children’s Community Nursing team, and a day unit with a POSCU and haematology service.
You will be supported by a Clinical Nurse Educator, Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, Quality managers, and a corporate training and development team. Responsibilities
The post holder will act as a role model and provide leadership in the clinical area, overseeing assessment of care needs, planning programmes of care, and implementing and evaluating these programmes with minimal direct supervision. Responsibilities include education and supervision of staff in coordination with the Children’s PDN, demonstrating advanced clinical specialist skills to deliver high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centred care, and supervising others. The role includes taking charge on each shift and coordinating the work of other staff, with ongoing professional development for self and others.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education / Qualifications
Essential: RSCN, RN (Child Branch); Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor.
Desirable: Leadership/Quality Improvement; Evidence of professional development (e.g., interest in allergy testing).
Skills / Abilities
Desirable: PILS/EPALS certified.
Experience / Knowledge
Essential: Experience as Senior Band 5 Nurse with experience of taking charge on shift of the ward.
