Key Responsibilities Deliver engaging and high-quality English lessons (Functional Skills Entry Level to Level 2 and/ or GCSE) to learners of varying abilities Plan and prepare schemes of work, lesson materials, and assessments Use digital and multimedia resources to enhance learning Assess learner work and provide constructive feedback Act as a course tutor, supporting learners to achieve their targets Maintain accurate learner records and support programme administration Participate in curriculum planning, team meetings, and standardisation activities Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of the curriculum Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Degree in English or a related subject Teaching qualification (Certificate in Education or Level 5 teaching qualification) Experience delivering and assessing Functional Skills English; GCSE experience desirable Strong understanding of assessment, internal verification, and learner support Ability to prepare engaging learning materials and adapt teaching to diverse learner needs Excellent organisational, administrative, and communication skills Confident using technology to support teaching and learning Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£31,837 - £48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications: ✅ Accepted Qualifications: DTTLS (Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector) Certificate in Education PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) ProfGCE (Professional Graduate Certificate in Education) DET (Diploma in Education and Training) DiT (Diploma in Teaching) – if for a vocational subject If you do not hold one of the above qualifications, you will fall into our Unqualified Lecturer salary banding (£26,661 - £29,998). ❌ Not Accepted as Stand Alone Qualifications: PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) CTLLS (Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector) CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) SFHEA (Senior Fellowship) Masters in Education TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) If you have any questions regarding your eligibility, please get in touch.
