JUNIOR TRADER – London
The role
This is a fast-track role designed to put the right person on the front line of a commodity derivatives trading desk from day one. You'll be responsible for the operational backbone of the desk – trade entry, P&L, reconciliation, execution – whilst being pushed to develop your understanding of the markets and your own trading approach as quickly as possible.

Vela Trading Group is a small, specialised commodity derivatives trading team focused on OTC swaps and futures across global commodity markets. Founded by a leading liquidity trader, the firm operates in voice-brokered markets where disciplined risk management, clear communication and execution are critical. The structure is flat and collaborative by design: you'll work directly with the founder from day one.
What you'll do
* Handle trade booking and reconciliation
* Assist in real-time execution of futures and OTC products
* Become technically fluent in commodity swaps and futures
* Develop a working knowledge of risk management and hedging strategies
* Produce market notes that feed into trading decisions
* Develop and execute your own trading methods as you progress
About you
* A bachelor's or master’s degree and a strong academic record
* Confident communication skills
* Excellent numerical and logical reasoning
* Resilience and sustained drive in a demanding environment
* Proactive attention to detail; self-starter mentality
* A genuine, demonstrable interest in commodity markets
