As Head Housekeeper, you will play a vital role in ensuring the hotel maintains the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in bedrooms, bathrooms, and all public areas. You will lead the housekeeping team, manage departmental operations, and ensure that all areas of the hotel consistently meet or exceed guest expectations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
* Comply with all statutory and company regulations relating to health & safety, hygiene, conduct of employees, fire procedures, and security.
* Take responsibility for the cleanliness of all public areas, bedrooms, and offices.
* Ensure the smooth operation of the Linen Room within the hotel.
* Manage departmental payroll, liaising with the Accounts Team in a timely manner.
* Work closely with Human Resources on recruitment and personnel matters, including onboarding of new staff.
* Deliver and maintain training programmes to ensure all staff consistently meet company standards, keeping detailed training records.
* Liaise with the Maintenance Department regarding room and facility maintenance.
* Maintain correct staffing levels in line with payroll policy and business needs.
* Manage purchasing of cleaning materials, controlling expenditure in line with budget.
* Oversee contract cleaning services (e.g., carpets, windows).
* Ensure smooth communication between Housekeeping and Reception to minimise guest inconvenience.
* Conduct daily inspections of bedrooms and public areas to ensure quality standards are met.
* Delegate effectively to the Assistant Housekeeper while maintaining high levels of quality control.
* Keep all Housekeeping storerooms tidy and well-organised.
* Ensure compliance with COSHH regulations and enforce safe working practices.
* Drive consistently high scores on bedroom audits and guest satisfaction measures.
