Job Title: Electrician Location: Derby Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Hours: 40 hours per week Job Summary: Electrical Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of electrical maintenance, installation, and repair work across the hospital site. The role ensures the delivery of a safe, compliant, and effective electrical service in a complex healthcare environment, directly supporting patient care and operational continuity. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Perform reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems, plant, and equipment across the hospital estate. Diagnose and repair faults on electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, emergency lighting, nurse call systems, fire alarms, and other hospital-critical services. Carry out electrical installation work in compliance with current IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671). Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and Trust policies, maintaining high standards of safety and hygiene. Participate in the on-call rota to provide emergency response to electrical faults outside of normal working hours. Complete and maintain accurate records of work undertaken using digital systems and job sheets. Liaise with clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure minimal disruption during works and a professional approach to patient safety. Support the Estates team with minor project work, upgrades, and refurbishments where required. Person Specification: Essential: NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent apprenticeship. City & Guilds 18th Edition (BS 7671). Proven experience in electrical maintenance, ideally in a healthcare or similar critical environment. Good understanding of health and safety legislation and practices. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Desirable: Experience working in NHS or healthcare estates.
