This is an onsite role in Malvern, AR. Candidates outside the Malvern area will need to relocate. Relocation Assistance is available.
Job Summary/Purpose
As a key member of the Project Management team, the Project Engineer manages and coordinates all technical aspects of new power generation capital projects. This role ensures engineering aligns with corporate goals and is complete, accurate, and constructible for all project scope elements.
The Project Engineer oversees contractor engineering performance, coordinates all interfaces between contractors and owners, and ensures projects meet construction drawings, specifications, quality, and performance standards. The role involves working with cross-functional teams and building relationships with stakeholders, including contractors, Project Managers, and Project Controls Specialists.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
1. Promote safe behavior and adherence to safety rules on the project.
2. Identify safety controls and hazard removal during engineering design and promote safe practices in the field.
3. Support and lead cross-functional teams from development through project closeout.
4. Ensure documentation of engineering and construction quality for audits and reviews.
5. Support the Owner team in writing Records of Decision for major project decisions.
6. Act as Contract Manager for engineering and construction contracts outside of the EPC.
7. Review engineering designs for compliance and support strategic goals.
8. Coordinate with the Project Manager to meet project requirements and deliverables.
9. Participate in contractor/vendor selection, assessing engineering experience and capabilities.
10. Lead technical open book engineering processes and apply value engineering.
11. Assist during design and construction to resolve technical queries.
12. Ensure firms providing engineering services are licensed in the project's state.
13. Ensure project compliance with NERC and Security Standards.
14. Store all project documents in the designated repository at closeout.
15. Support and lead change management processes for design changes.
16. Participate in equipment inspections as scheduled.
17. Support Owner review and signoff of System Turnover packages.
18. Assist in commissioning to ensure performance, reliability, and emissions testing are completed per contract.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering; advanced degree preferred.
Experience: Varies by level: 6+ years for Project Engineer Sr, 10+ years for Sr Lead, 12+ years for Sr Staff, with relevant experience in engineering design, construction, or operation of control systems and electrical systems. Certifications like PE or PMP are advantageous.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Strong technical writing, communication, computer skills, leadership, and expertise in engineering fundamentals, power generation, contract management, and problem-solving.
Certificates/Licenses: Preferred: Professional Engineer license and PMP certification.
