Role Purpose/Objective:
Reporting into the Head of Procurement, the Supply Chain Manager role is integral to the successful delivery of projects. The position is responsible for all sub-contractor activity, including appraisals, tendering, contract award, and performance metrics.
The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments such as estimating, commercial, construction, and finance. The role involves delivering value by improving efficiencies, reducing costs, and eliminating waste across the supply chain.
The candidate should have experience and ideally established relationships with subcontractors and manufacturers across key construction trades, with excellent product knowledge and the ability to influence and manage both externally and internally for the company's benefit.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the end-to-end sub-contract supply chain, from pre-tender to post-contract performance reviews
* Build and maintain relationships with new and existing sub-contractors
* Respond to site communications regarding supply chain queries professionally and efficiently
* Engage early with estimating to support project planning
* Collaborate with estimating, commercial, and construction teams to understand project requirements and constraints
* Evaluate and select sub-contractors based on quality, cost, and reliability
* Address issues such as delays, quality concerns, or material stockouts promptly
* Work with the commercial team to monitor and control supply chain costs, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget
* Identify cost-saving opportunities and strategies to reduce waste and improve sub-contractor performance
* Conduct regular reviews of the supply chain
* Provide updates on supply chain activities regularly
* Resolve disputes or issues with sub-contractors to ensure smooth project operations
* Collaborate to clarify project specifications and expectations
* Visit sites frequently to review and report on sub-contractor performance
Experience/Skills Required:
Previous experience in supply chain management within construction or related industries
Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of construction materials and standards
Excellent organisational and project management abilities
Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and solve problems effectively
