Wye Valley NHS Trust's Department of Haematology is seeking to recruit a Consultant Haematologist to join the current team and consolidate a sustainable consultant-delivered service to the population of Herefordshire and East Powys. The department offers first-class care within high-quality, dedicated facilities, delivered by a friendly team which provides a comprehensive range of services up to Level 2a. Candidates with broad general training in Haematology are preferred, and special skills to support or complement the existing consultants are welcomed. The department collaborates closely with colleagues at Worcester Acute Trust (where MDT, level 2b and 3 services are centered) and at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.
There is flexibility within the department to accommodate the skills of the successful candidates. Candidates wishing to work up to and including 10 PA contracts are actively encouraged to apply.
The Trust will offer relocation expenses up to £8K (in line with the Trust Recruitment Policy)

Main duties of the job
Key duties of the post:
* Hands-on clinical involvement as a Consultant Haematologist, working closely with the 3 other Consultant Haematologists and 1 Associate Specialist, sharing responsibility for all haematology patients.
* Participation and attendance at joint MDT with WAT and potential participation in joint on-call/attending systems.
* Taking a lead role in an area of interest, including participation on Trust committees and leading education and audit in that area.
* Participating in clinical trials and becoming a Principal Investigator for appropriate studies.
* Liaising and developing working policies with relevant hospital departments.
* Liaising and developing working policies with local GPs, consultant colleagues, nurse practitioners, and other health professionals.
* Teaching and training students and medical staff at all levels, as well as nurse practitioners, nurses, and paramedical staff.
* Active participation in clinical audit activities within the Department of Haematology and Trust-wide.
* Maintaining CPD as per policy, with available study leave funding.
* On-call (level A - 5% supplement) on a 1 in 4 basis.
* Other duties appropriate for a Consultant Haematologist may be required in exceptional circumstances.

Professional Qualification
* Full and Specialist registration (and a license to practice) with the GMC, or eligibility for Specialist Registration within six months of interview.
* UK-trained applicants must hold a CCT or be within six months of award at the time of interview.
* Non-UK trained applicants must show evidence of UK CCT equivalence.
* MRCP or equivalent
* FRCPath or equivalent
Clinical Experience
* Proven experience as a clinical and laboratory haematologist
