Reporting to the Divisional Director of Operations and professionally accountable to the Divisional Director, the General Manager is responsible for the operational and strategic management of a large, complex directorate across the Trust.
The post holder leads service delivery and improvement at scale, managing multiple services/sites, and influencing regional and system-wide developments. The post holder will lead the service delivery and improvement within a single directorate, ensuring high-quality care and efficient use of resources, and ensuring the directorate provides high quality patient care and achieves its performance objectives.
Responsibilities
* Shape and implement the delivery of the strategic and corporate objectives for the Trust.
* Align the directorate more closely with Imperial College, through the development of appropriate links with the Academic Health Science Centre office and with college counterparts.
* Manage the delivery of all agreed outputs for the directorate as set out in the business plan.
* Deliver agreed performance indicators in relation to clinical outcomes, clinical efficiency, financial sustainability and productivity gains, and service line reporting.
* Ensure the Directorate has clearly defined performance objectives supported by a management regime to deliver continuous improvement.
* Develop and implement effective reporting arrangements to accurately record and monitor performance against targets and to proactively manage any variances.
* Provide regular reports to the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Directors, with assurance that appropriate follow‑up actions will be completed.
* Hold Lead Clinicians, Lead Nurses and Service Managers accountable for delivery of their objectives through regular performance review meetings.
