Are you a dynamic and experienced countryside professional with enthusiasm for nature and knowledge of its conservation and the outdoors? We’re looking for a Lead Ranger to join our team.
This is a duty manager role providing 24 hour emergency cover for the property on a roster basis. This means that on-site accommodation is provided to the post-holder for the proper or better performance of his or her duties in accordance with Trust criteria and HMRC rules.

As the Lead Ranger for Lanhydrock, you’ll be joining our property leadership team to become a voice for our landscapes, a conservation champion, and an advocate for helping people to enjoy the outdoors. You will be working in collaboration with the leadership team to ensure Lanhydrock’s experience is innovative, audience-led and true to our spirit of place. The estate includes woodland, riverside paths and a Grade 2* listed parkland of international importance for its wildlife and ancient trees. Our outdoor offer includes 14km of off-road cycle trails, 40km of footpaths, a bridle route, adventure playground and Tramper facility.
Responsibilities
* Lead the ranger team to deliver land and nature-focused outcomes.
* Write and deliver estate and woodland management plans.
* Create positive partnerships with tenants and neighbours.
* Inspire access to the outdoors and engage a broad audience in our work.
* Report to the General Manager and work closely with the Estate Manager, Community and Participation Manager, and Property Experiences Curator.
* Manage operational and project budgets to deliver work and protect/enhance Trust assets and reputation.
* Balance managing and developing the countryside estate with a busy, high-profile visitor environment.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Extensive knowledge of land management with a track record of delivering to a high standard.
* Experience in leading a team and managing budgets (operational and project).
* Strong commitment to health and safety compliance.
* Ability to balance countryside estate management with a high-profile visitor environment.
