Senior Stress Engineer Defence/Nuclear Derby Permanent
Are you a stress analysis specialist ready to step into a high-impact role supporting the UK s most critical infrastructure?
We're hiring a Senior Stress Engineer to join a leading engineering team based on-site in Derby. This is a full-time, staff position working 3 - 5 days per week on site optional hybrid working supporting advanced projects in the defence and nuclear sectors.
What you ll be doing:
* Delivering structural integrity substantiations via FEA and code-based assessments
* Supporting peer reviews and technical documentation
* Modelling and analysis using ABAQUS (explicit/implicit), Python scripting a plus
* Applying standards including ASME B&PVC, R6, and ideally RCC-M
* Providing defect tolerance and fatigue/fracture analysis
* Working within quality and time budgets, contributing to bids as required
What you ll bring:
* Extensive experience in fatigue, fracture, and thermal stress assessments
* Nuclear or defence background preferred, though other regulated sectors considered
* Competence in ABAQUS/CAE or similar tools
* Familiarity with CRACKEN or equivalent
* UK sole nationality and eligibility for security clearance
