We are a Partner Practice of St. James’s Place based in Wimborne, Dorset. Founded in 2005, we are looking for an experienced Paraplanner to join our growing wealth management practice.
This role would suit someone with strong technical knowledge and previous experience working within an SJP practice or a similar financial advice environment. We are particularly interested in candidates who have an adviser-level understanding of the financial advice process, are confident supporting an adviser with more complex client cases, and have a proven track record of delivering strong Quality of Documentation outcomes.
The role:
You will support the delivery of high-quality, compliant client outcomes across a broad range of financial planning areas. This will include preparing suitability reports, conducting detailed research, supporting cashflow analysis, and assisting with technical planning.
You will work closely with our principal adviser on client recommendations, including more challenging cases involving pensions, investments, protection, estate planning, tax, and trusts. The role requires someone who can provide technical guidance, resolve queries, and help ensure advice is delivered in line with SJP standards, internal service expectations, and Quality of Documentation requirements.
Key responsibilities:
Preparing suitability reports and supporting documentation
Conducting research across pensions, investments, protection, estate planning, tax, and trusts
Discussing more complex client cases with the adviser and providing technical guidance
Supporting the adviser with technical query resolution, research, and compliance-focused case preparation
Assisting with cashflow analysis and financial planning scenarios
Ensuring advice files are accurate, compliant, well documented, and capable of meeting strong QoD standards
Helping ensure client recommendations meet SJP standards and internal service expectations
Working closely with the adviser, administrators, and clients where required
Maintaining high standards of client service, regulatory compliance, and documentation quality
About you:
We are looking for someone who has:
Previous paraplanning experience within an SJP practice or financial advice firm
A proven track record of strong QoD outcomes
Strong technical knowledge across pensions, investments, protection, estate planning, tax, and trusts
A clear understanding of the full financial advice process
Confidence discussing complex client cases with an adviser
Strong research, analytical, and report-writing skills
Excellent attention to detail
A professional, organised, and proactive approach
A commitment to delivering high-quality, compliant client outcomes
The ability to support the delivery of ongoing service to our existing clients, with approximately £100 million of funds under management
