Role summary
The Fire Safety Officer reports directly to the Group Fire Safety Manager and assists the Head of Health, Safety, Fire and Compliance as a fire safety advisor to the Pinewood Group in assisting the management of all aspects of fire prevention and protection across all Pinewood sites. The role is responsible for providing advice and guidance to employees, contractors, Tenants and Productions to ensure that obligations under the Regulatory (Fire Safety) Order 2005 are met & align to other legislation, approved codes of practice, relevant company policies and procedures. Where necessary, and as appropriate, the job holder will refer or escalate matters to the pinewood Group Fire Safety Manager in their capacity as the competent fire advisor to the Pinewood Group.
This role is based within Business Compliance and works closely with health, safety, compliance, and sustainability business units.
Although based primarily at the Shepperton site, the job holder may be required to work from the Pinewood site from time to time as required by the Group Fire Safety Manager.
The job holder commits to undertake further development in fire safety, as deemed appropriate for the role by the Head of Health, Safety, Fire and Compliance.
Principle accountabilities
1. Assist in the management and promotion of fire safety policy
2. Respond to fire alarm activations and conduct subsequent investigations to determine cause and take corrective actions to return site to business-as-usual and share lessons learnt
3. Conduct fire risk assessments for premises, develop action plans to mitigate identified risk where applicable and advise others of required actions
4. Manage the delivery of a program of safety inspections and audits on passive and active fire protection installations for premises across the Shepperton Estate
5. Provide advice and guidance to stakeholders to assist in compliance with the Fire Regulatory (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and other fire safety regulatory and guidance
6. Develop and deliver high quality fire training (Fire Warden, Fire Safety Awareness) and fire safety advice
7. Conduct and observe practical fire safety evacuation drills at specific premises and provide feedback and reports on those drills to relevant stakeholders
8. Conduct and keep up to date fire incident information planning documentation and Tactical Information Plans
9. Improve the standard of fire safety
10. Develop relationships with local authority fire and rescue services
11. Promote excellent fire safety standards by advising and guiding stakeholders on prevention, protection & general fire safety matters as necessary
Nature and scope
The Fire Safety Officer role will primarily be responsible for helping the Group to meet its fire safety obligations by supporting the Group Fire Safety Manager and wider business compliance team.
The job holder must be pro-active and prioritise their own workload which may include, but is not limited to, such activities as planning for fire risk assessment reviews, fire training, review of contractor and productions RAMS, workplace inspections and contractor inductions.
This role works within a complex environment made up of numerous internal and external stakeholders. The job holder must be able to effectively prioritise demands based on risk and business priorities in consultation with the Group Fire Safety Manager and with additional input from the competent fire advisor to the Pinewood Group.
Although focussing mainly on fire safety, the role also includes some Health and Safety responsibilities.

18. Specialist knowledge of fire legislation and relevant codes of practice underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant working experience

Desirable Criteria
27. NEBOSH General Cert
28. NEBOSH Fire Certificate
29. A qualification in training and education
30. First Aid at Work
31. Member of IFE or other relevant membership
32. Extensive fire safety experience/practice with a sound working knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and its supporting legislative framework (e.g. British Standards, Approved Doc. B, BS9999 etc.)
33. Experience in the enforcement of fire legislation
34. Experience in film, TV and media industry
35. Experience and understanding of ordinary and high hazard sprinkler systems.
36. Competence in fire risk assessment of complex structures
37. Able to work autonomously where required
38. Proactively maintains CPD portfolio

39. Role location: Shepperton Studios with occasional travel to Pinewood Studios.
