The Inn at Kingsbarns is centrally located in the beautiful village of Kingsbarns on the East Neuk of Fife ( 6 miles from St Andrews ) The Inn currently offers 6 luxury bedrooms, a sixteen seat restaurant, outdoor garden seating and a small bar.
We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food production and presentation. This position requires strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to maintaining food safety standards. The Sous Chef will be responsible for supervising kitchen staff, assisting in menu development, and ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest quality.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
* Assist in food preparation and cooking, ensuring that all dishes meet our quality standards.
* Manage food production processes while adhering to food safety regulations.
* Collaborate with the Head Chef in menu planning and development.
* Train and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
* Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
* Ensure timely service of meals during busy periods while maintaining high-quality standards.
Experience
* Proven experience in a culinary role within a restaurant or hospitality environment.
* Strong supervisory experience with a focus on team management.
* Demonstrated expertise in food preparation, cooking techniques, and food production processes.
* Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations is essential.
* Previous experience in a fast-paced kitchen setting is desirable.
* Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire team members.
