Job Description Summary
GE’s Power Conversion business, part of GE Vernova, provides electrification systems critical to customers’ power and energy needs for high-performance applications. We collaborate with major energy, maritime, and industrial organizations to enable energy efficiency and decarbonization through our motors, drives, and control technologies.
At Rotating Machines Rugby (RMR), we design and manufacture advanced electrical rotating machinery, including motors and generators for various industrial applications. Our motors power some of the world's most advanced warships, and our generators contribute to industry decarbonization for sustainability. The Manufacturing Readiness & Technologies Team, part of the RMR Engineering Department, comprises Manufacturing Engineers responsible for developing and implementing innovative manufacturing technologies.
We focus on improving execution, efficiency, and cost reduction via Lean Manufacturing techniques and innovative ideas. We also ensure all preparations are in place for efficient manufacturing of new projects.
Reporting to the Manufacturing Readiness & Technologies Leader, the Manufacturing Readiness Engineer leads manufacturing preparations to ensure safe, first-time-right, timely project execution. The role involves cross-functional collaboration to ensure readiness, providing technical leadership, and supporting project builds during execution.
What you will be doing as part of our team…
1. Designing new project-specific tooling, developing, documenting, and implementing new manufacturing processes.
2. Researching and proposing investments in innovative manufacturing technologies.
3. Organizing and optimizing tooling and manufacturing processes.
4. Planning, coordinating, installing, and commissioning new equipment or supervising contractors.
5. Developing and validating new tooling suppliers.
6. Analyzing workflow, space, and equipment placement to maximize efficiency.
Working cross-functionally within a global GE team to ensure customer satisfaction.
Who We Are Looking For…
* Sole UK national, to comply with security restrictions.
* An innovative engineer with strong leadership to drive change.
* Proficient in CAD design (Creo or SolidWorks), capable of modeling tooling concepts to detailed designs.
* Experience with mechanical calculations or FEA simulations is desirable.
* Goal-oriented, motivated, and a proactive self-starter.
* Excellent organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills, with attention to detail.
* Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and design tools like Creo or AutoCAD.
* Ability to work in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team on multiple projects, meeting EHS, Quality, Delivery, and Cost metrics.
* Strong communication skills, including negotiation and presentation.
* Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes and engineering challenges.
* Ability to motivate and influence change.
* Flexible, willing to work extended hours and travel as needed.
* Experience leading engineering design reviews and interpreting complex drawings.
* Proven ability to train operators and communicate effectively across all levels of the business.
