This is a 24‐month fixed‐term graduate position, based in the Civic Square offices in Motherwell. You will be part of a team with a remit to support the design, development and maintenance of the Council's ICT Infrastructure.

Reporting to the Infrastructure Team Lead, you will help ensure the Council meets the needs of its internal customers by utilising security solutions that make best use of technology to provide efficient, secure and reliable services.

This role will assist in the delivery of a wide range of ICT Infrastructure services, supporting for the development, implementation and maintenance of effective and secure solutions that underpin delivery of Council services and priorities.

This post sits within the Secure Access Team in Digital Infrastructure. The team's primary responsibility is to manage and maintain edge security technologies that protect internet access for corporate staff, school staff and pupils, while ensuring secure digital access to public services.

You will have knowledge of networking and security technologies, with a focus on Firewalls, Secure Web Gateways, Web Application Firewalls, Remote Access and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) solutions, as well as other Secure Service Edge (SSE) components that deliver defence-in-depth security controls across the network security stack.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a graduate to develop hands‐on experience in enterprise network security technologies, supported by experienced professionals and structured learning.

You will hold an SVQ Level 4, HND, Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, have strong communication skills, and be able to work collaboratively while interpreting customer requirements. You will also have experience using modern digital office tools, together with a basic understanding of ICT Infrastructure technologies.

As a developing IT Professional, you will be able to demonstrate problem solving skills, be self-motivated and organised, be able to work to targets and react appropriately and quickly to challenges. Good oral and written communication skills are also essential.

This is a temporary post for 23 months

Work pattern:

35 hours per week - Monday - Thursday: 08:45 - 16:45 (including a 55 minute unpaid break)

Friday: 08:45 - 16:15 (including a 50 minute unpaid break)

*For all casual/sessional roles, you will receive 12.1% of your hourly rate for every hour worked in total recompense for annual leave, including public holidays. These rates will be indicated separately on your payslip. You will only be paid for the hours that you work.
