Hours: 21 hours per week (0.6 FTE)
Location: 29-31 Montgomery Street, Belfast

Remuneration: £25,476 - £27,919 Pro-rata
Overall Purpose of Post
The Volunteer Engagement Co-Ordinator is responsible for volunteer retention and coordination across the organization. The role will ensure adherence to our data management strategy, effective monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes. The postholder will facilitate volunteer recruitment, induction, and support, and contribute to service development, promoting good practice in service delivery, evaluation, and quality assurance, working closely with Service Leads & SMT.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Co-ordination
* Refine volunteer recruitment processes to meet organizational needs.
* Oversee the volunteer database and maintain it effectively.
* Manage volunteer needs inventory, match skills to projects, and track contributions.
* Process Access NI checks for relevant volunteers.
* Ensure role descriptions, induction, training, and evaluation are current.
* Organize and deliver training as needed.
* Develop new volunteer initiatives.
* Promote the service locally and in the wider community.
* Build and maintain links with other agencies to raise awareness.
* Implement activities to promote volunteer retention and recognition.
* Maintain communication with volunteers and report on activities and impact.
* Stay updated on best practices in volunteer management.
* Support policy reviews and ensure compliance with best practices.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
* Develop and support monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes.
* Assist in developing case studies to capture volunteer experiences.
* Coordinate and disseminate volunteer satisfaction surveys.
* Align evaluation with funding requirements.
Quality Assurance and Development
* Support policy reviews to ensure compliance with legislation and standards.
* Maintain standards for volunteer management and recommend improvements.
* Promote diversity and inclusivity in volunteer engagement.
Data and Information Management
* Follow reporting mechanisms for data collection and management.
* Gather evidence to inform services and support fundraising.
* Analyze statistics to identify trends and support volunteers.
* Ensure data compliance with GDPR.
External Relationships
* Build and develop stakeholder relationships.
* Attend external meetings as Cancer Focus NI lead for volunteer engagement.
* Develop new partnerships with statutory, voluntary, and private organizations.
General
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Represent and promote Cancer Focus NI.
* Support existing services and carry out additional duties as required.
* Willing to undertake training, including safeguarding.
* Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Person Specification
Essential skills include experience in delivering volunteer training, organizing events, managing people, and relevant qualifications. Skills in communication, organization, negotiation, IT proficiency, teamwork, independence, and personal qualities like adaptability, empathy, and commitment are required. A full valid driving license and access to transport are also necessary. Desirable criteria include experience in health and social care, community engagement, developing training programs, and relevant qualifications.
