We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our engineering operations at our busy Oban depot. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for the strategic management of all engineering resources, ensuring the delivery of safe, reliable, and compliant vehicles to meet operational requirements. This role involves leading a team of engineers, driving continuous improvement, and upholding the highest standards of safety, compliance and performance. Key Responsibilities Oversee all engineering operations at the Oban depot, ensuring the provision of fit and serviceable vehicles to meet business needs. Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering team fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. Implement maintenance strategies, schedules, and quality assurance processes for vehicle inspections, MOTs, and compliance with all relevant legislation. Manage engineering resources and procurement to optimise efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Ensure all vehicle records, modifications, and maintenance programmes are accurately maintained and compliant with regulatory standards. Identify training needs across the engineering team and coordinate professional development initiatives. Champion health and safety policies, ensuring full compliance with company procedures and appropriate legislation. Collaborate with other depot engineers and managers to share best practices and drive operational excellence. Act as the local primary point of contact for engineering matters with external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and suppliers. Person Specification Essential: Significant experience in engineering management within the PCV/HGV or related transport sector. Proven leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams. Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities. In-depth knowledge of vehicle maintenance, compliance, and safety standards. Full UK driving licence; PCV licence desirable. Desirable: Experience of managing budgets and engineering projects.
