Main duties of the job
Weare looking for a skilled GP to manage and deal with a wide range of healthneeds in a primary care setting. Ensuring high standards of care for allregistered and temporary patients with an interest in training junior doctorsthrough the training scheme (currently qualified or training/willing to trainto become a trainer).
Makingprofessional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referredor referred from other health care workers within the organization. Assessingthe health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosedproblems.
Coveringa variety of duties, including face to face appointments, telephoneconsultations / triage and home visits. Depending on experience On Callduties. Completing / reviewing the necessary daily paperwork, for exampleresults, prescribing of medication, review and action of clinical letters.

Job responsibilities
Thepost-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needsin a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for allregistered and temporary patients.
ClinicalResponsibilities:
In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will makethemselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgeryconsultations, telephone consultations and queries, triage calls, triagevisits, checking and signing of repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries,paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion.
Respond to medical problems presented by temporary residents as required.
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems,whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within theorganization. Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiatedand undiagnosed problems.
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
Supervisionof GP Registrars and Foundation Doctors under the guidance of the GP Trainers
OnCall Surgeries
In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice diseasemanagement protocols, developing care plans to support good health outcomes
To assist in the establishment of appropriate systems to manage common chronicmedical conditions.
Completion of clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties neededfor the delivery of the service.
Providing counselling and health education.
Refer patients for further opinions and interventions according to Practiceprotocols as and when needed
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions(avoiding hand-written prescriptions wherever possible).
Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary whenever thisis clinically appropriate.
Participate in training plans of medical students as required.
In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal dutiesand responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Maintaining,monitoring, and updating computer databases and management of medical recordsand practice audits
Ensure that practice clinical databases are updated promptly and accuratelywith information relating to patient records, as required for clinical accuracyand for practice recording requirements under QOF and Enhanced Services.
Appropriate use of snomed/read codes.
Participating in the collection and collation of statistics towards thepreparation of practice reports, performance monitoring and clinical audits.Participating in the auditing of practice activity as required by the GPcontracts and or service level agreements.

Process and action incoming patient and hospital correspondence
Attendance at in-house meetings, significant event audit meetings and othersas deemed necessary
Ensure that the practice complaints system is adhered to at all times
Awareness and compliance with all relevant guidelines e.g., Informationgovernance, data protection, confidentiality and health and safety
Maintain current CPR and anaphylaxis certification

* A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner. Register under article 10 of the General and Specialist Medical Practice Order 2003.
* Not subject to suspension under section
* 41A of the Medical Act 1983.
