Job overview

Are you passionate about supporting adults to have good mental health? Are you a recovery focused and creative Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner who wants to work in supportive teams? An opportunity has become available to work at the Bridlington Primary Care Mental Health Network and Yorkshire Coast and Wolds Primary Care Mental Health Network.

This post is a joint appointment across two Primary Care Mental Health Networks: the Bridlington Primary Care Mental Health Network and the Yorkshire Coast and Wolds Primary Care Mental Health Network. The successful candidate will spend two working days per week with each team, supporting service delivery across both geographical areas.


Main duties of the job

As a Primary Care Mental Health keyworker you will provide signposting, support and short-term interventions to promote mental health recovery. Establishing therapeutic relationships with service users and their family / carers.

* Complete initial triage and assessment of needs.
* Coordination of referrals into the team.
* Signposting / referring clients to the most appropriate service to meet their needs.
* Provide a range of information and psychologically informed interventions which are aligned with Cognitive-behavioural principles. This work may be face to face, group work, telephone or online.
* Care and risk planning.
* Provide information and interventions surrounding common mental health conditions.
* Uphold legal frameworks which underpin service delivery.
* Assess risks, the management of risks and effectiveness of interventions.
* Develop good working relationships with neighbouring teams to enable effective co-working and responsive transfers of care if necessary.
* Leadership to support the team day to day and in meetings.

Experience

* Evidence of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem.
* Experience of running groups / activities.


Qualifications, Education and Training

* A graduate certificate (Level 6) delivering the national curriculum for Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioners (Adult Specialist Mental Health).


Skills, Competencies and Personal Qualities

* Able to establish and maintain empathic, supportive relationships with people in significant distress or who are cognitively impaired, their families and carers
* Able to receive, understand and communicate confidential client information of a sensitive and often complex nature, including discussing care with family members within boundaries of confidentiality

Where operationally feasible the Trust supports agile working, there is an expectation of attendance of 1 day per week at a Trust site as a minimum operationally. Unless specifically stated in the advert that a role will have home as the base of work, all roles will have the option to work from a Trust base if remote working is not for you.

If required for the post the ability to commute within the Trusts geographical area with access to the appropriate means of transport would be essential.

On 1 July 2024, NHS England strengthened its commitment to supporting employees already working for the NHS who wish to embark upon an apprenticeship to aide career development.

To ensure these staff do not experience a detriment to their basic pay, the salary for duration of the apprenticeship will be consistent with their current pay or the rate paid to other apprentices, whichever is higher (subject to eligibility criteria)

This change supports exiting NHS employees to undertake a formal apprenticeship programme which, upon completion, would qualify them for a role where the evaluated pay band is the same or higher than the band of their current post.
