We are seeking a dynamic and conscientious Echocardiographer to work at Barts Health NHS Trust. The successful candidate will work at the Barts Heart Centre, St Bartholomews Hospital located in The City of London, with rotation to one of the other sites within the Trust network and contribute to weekend working on a rotational basis. This role offers exposure to a variety of cardiac pathologies and clinical situations.
The department holds dual accreditation with both the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) and European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI), providing an excellent opportunity to develop your career as a competent Echocardiographer with opportunities for advanced specialist training.
Candidates must be fully accredited transthoracic Echocardiographers, independently performing and reporting to BSE standards or equivalent. Applicants should hold full accreditation with a recognized national/international body, have relevant senior cardiac physiologist experience, and be prepared to advance their career.
Support for leadership development is available, including supervising and training staff and assisting senior staff.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in a busy Echocardiography Department, capable of performing complex tasks independently, and able to rotate between St Bartholomews Hospital and another site within the Trust. Weekend rotation is required to deliver a 7-day NHS service (over 45 weeks per year). The role can be part-time if needed, with staff job planning for 3 weekdays and 2 weekends. The post involves autonomous work within the non-invasive Cardiac Diagnostics department, supervising, training, and supporting staff.
