Senior Research Fellow (Child Health Services Research) – UNSW

The Population Child Health (PCH) Research Group at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network invites applications for the role of Senior Research Fellow, Child Health Services Research. This is a full-time, 2-year fixed-term contract based at the Randwick Clinical Campus, Sydney NSW.
* Employment Type: Full-time (35 hours per week)
* Duration: 2-year fixed-term contract
* Remuneration: Level C $155k - $178k base + 17% Superannuation + Annual Leave Loading
* Work rights required: Visa sponsorship is available for this position
* Location: Randwick Clinical Campus, Sydney NSW

Location and team focus: The role is within the Population Child Health (PCH) Research Group, an integrated, multidisciplinary clinical research team working across Australia and internationally from UNSW Randwick and SCHN. The group conducts translational health services and health systems research to optimise child health outcomes and address inequities, focusing on priority populations, integrating care, and the first 2000 days.

About the role

The Senior Research Fellow is expected to make independent and synergistic contributions to child health research within the PCH Research Group at UNSW. The position suits an experienced academic who can demonstrate leadership and initiative in driving research strategy, collaboration, and outcomes. The Fellow will contribute to high-quality publications, competitive grant acquisition, and meaningful partnerships aimed at improving health service delivery and health outcomes for children and young people. The role involves collaboration with clinicians, health services, policymakers, academic partners, and mentoring to students, groups, and colleagues. The role reports to the Professor and has no other direct reports.

Skills Required

* A PhD in health services research, epidemiology, psychology or non-lab-based child health research
* Commitment to staying up to date with discipline knowledge and developments
* Proven track record in high-quality, high-impact research with leadership potential
* Experience in translation intervention research preferred
* Proven ability to generate grant income
* Ability to work in a team and build multidisciplinary relationships
* Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
* Understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values, policies and guidelines
* Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and willingness to attend relevant training
