Brief Description
The Discovery and Medicinal Chemistry Department at Jazz Pharma is seeking an enthusiastic scientist to join the Preformulation & Biopharmaceutics team at the Kent Science Park site in Sittingbourne. This role involves advancing drug candidates from lead optimization to proof of concept, designing and executing experiments, and demonstrating resourcefulness in achieving project goals.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
1. Collaborate within CMC and cross-functional teams as the Pre-Formulation lead.
2. Deliver and oversee the optimization of pre-clinical and clinical formulations.
3. Carry out solubility and dissolution experiments to assess stability and predict bio-performance.
4. Identify gaps in internal capabilities and lead efforts to implement suitable technologies.
5. Manage, coach, and mentor junior staff members.
6. Provide clear scientific and technological leadership.
7. Comply with safety and GxP procedures.
8. Plan and prioritize work, involving senior managers when required.
9. Participate in CRO selection process.
10. Provide oversight of partnerships.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Stay updated on advancements in Biopharmaceutics and Formulation technologies.
* Understand the interlink between drug substance processes and impact on product development.
* Good knowledge of pharmacology principles from a drug product perspective.
* Ability to interpret complex technical data and use statistical design of experiments.
* Strong communication skills and experience in drug substance/product characterization.
* Knowledge of in silico models to predict in vivo performance and relevant FDA/EMA regulations is a plus.
Required/Preferred Education and Licenses
PhD/Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Material Sciences, or Chemical Engineering with 4-6 years of relevant industrial experience. Jazz Pharmaceuticals is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
