40 hours per week (shift work including mornings, evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays).

The Role
You will be working closely with the Food & Beverage Manager to oversee the restaurant operations. You will strive for continuous improvement and to be a role model for Phyllis Court Club. With your catering know-how and attention to detail you will be responsible to ensure the highest levels of service and to maintain standards that have been set in the standard operating procedures for day-to-day activities.
The Person
You will be a natural positive leader and have experience in training and supporting the team, to get the best from our Supervisors and Assistants. You will have excellent overall knowledge of food and beverage, ability to pair wines with food, upsell wine and cocktails and train others with your knowledge and skills. Most importantly it will be your role to ensure that all Members and Guests at Phyllis Court Club have a positive memorable experience.
Responsibilities
* Leading the team to deliver an exceptional experience to our Members and Guests and to ensure the highest levels of service.
* Oversee and lead food and beverage events, and other day-to-day operations, within budgeted guidelines and to the highest standards.
* Monitor all restaurant sales ensuring Members and Guests are receiving prompt and accurate service in accordance with Club standards and correct charging.
* Identify both team member and Member needs and respond proactively to all their concerns in line with Club policies and standard operating procedures.
* Ensure that all food and beverage assistants are tasked in line with the needs of the business.
* Assist the Food & Beverage Manager in the recruitment of Food & Beverage Assistants.
* Work collaboratively with the wider team and support other departments (hotel, reception, kitchen, maintenance, and fitness) so that a smooth efficient service and working environment is achieved; a One Team ethos.
* Positively resolve Member complaints and comments and escalate as needed
* Conduct daily pre-shift briefings to ensure staff are briefed on menu specials or changes, dietary requirements, special occasions etc.
* Ensure all food and drinks being served are in accordance with the standards laid out in the departmental SOP.
* Ensure all the areas within the department are left clean and tidy after service, to the standards set out in the departmental SOP.
* Fill out after shift review of events and service to be communicated with senior management.
* Attend any meetings required by Food and Beverage Manager.
* Ensure that all the above duties are completed within our Customer Service values at all times.
* To undertake any other duties at the request of the Food and Beverage Manager which are commensurate with the role.
Essential Skills
* Have good people management skills, including setting personal objectives and providing feedback e.g., probationary reviews.
* Excellent interpersonal skills including influencing and negotiating with the ability to be able to communicate clearly with Members and Colleagues.
* Have good time management skills.
* Highly organised approach to work, including ability to prioritise in a busy environment, successfully negotiate any conflict and delegate upwards when required.
* Experience in delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards at all times.
* Competent user of Microsoft office suite & software or technical confidence with similar software.
* Ability to train team members to quality service standards.
* Ability to maintain a flexible approach to service, including covering for all members of the team and exhibit a positive service orientation to all staff, Members, and Guests.
* Highly organised, proactive person able to both lead a team and take direction
* Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
Desirable Skills
* Previous experience held at a supervisory level or management of a team
* Level 2 Food Safety
* Level 2 Health and Safety
* Experience in fine dining or private Members Club
* Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety requirements for example COSHH and PPE
* Use of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and POS systems such as ESP, Opera, Micros, Squirrel or other.
