Job summary

We are seeking enthusiastic Band 5 nurses with neonatal experience who can work alongside our highly reputable multidisciplinary team. We also welcome experienced adult intensive care nurses with transferrable skills considering a career change.
You will have the opportunity to complete training including Neonatal Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Special Care/High Dependency Course, and Neonatal Intensive Care Course.
The Neonatal Unit is a level 3 provider in the South London Neonatal Network, known for its specialist services. Due to high activity and complex acuity, we need experienced neonatal nurses to join our dedicated team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be integral to practice development within the Neonatal Unit, working independently and autonomously, and accountable for professional conduct that promotes dignity and human rights through family-centered care principles.
They will work with the multidisciplinary team to provide ongoing care from admission to discharge, supervise junior staff and learners, and maintain personal development.
The role requires providing high-quality nursing care and supporting relatives, ensuring safety and effectiveness.

Job responsibilities
Clinical Practice
* Practice in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
* Promote children's well-being and safeguard from harm.
* Assess, plan, and evaluate individualized care programs in partnership with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team, using a family-centered approach.
* Support health education for patients and families.
* Deliver care based on evidence-based guidelines.
* Ensure high-quality clinical care and a positive patient experience, respecting cultural and religious beliefs.
* Recognize and respond to situations affecting health and well-being.
* Use observations to inform nursing assessments and care plans.
* Obtain informed consent and maintain comprehensive records in line with legal and trust requirements.
* Maintain patient confidentiality.
* Support junior colleagues, students, and visitors.
Education and Research
* Assist in teaching and developing junior staff and students.
* Promote evidence-based practice through research and audits.
* Contribute to protocol development and quality improvement initiatives.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
* Registered Nurse (RGN) or RN Child/Adult with active NMC registration.
* Understanding of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
* Problem-solving and escalation skills.
* Experience in adult critical care, emergency, or cardiac intensive care.
* Experience in neonatal or pediatric nursing.
* Flexibility and adaptability.
* Effective communication skills.
* Specialist neonatal qualification (e.g., ENB 405).

This role is subject to DBS checks in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975.
Salary: £35,964 to £43,780 per annum, including High Cost Area supplement.
