Overview
Fixed Term/Secondment Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for 5 suitable candidates to work as a Clinical Frailty Assistant within the Frailty Team at the front door and within the newly established Acute Frailty Unit of the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy for a fixed term until the end of March 2026.
Frailty identification and management has been identified as a significant priority for NHS Fife to optimise patient outcomes. The Frailty team provides comprehensive multidisciplinary assessment for patients who are identified as having frailty syndromes, to ensure effective identification of patient pathways and destination of care is reached in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
* Assist with frailty identification and management as part of the Frailty Team and Acute Frailty Unit.
* Contribute to multidisciplinary assessment for patients identified with frailty syndromes to support timely patient pathways and destination of care.
* Provide cover to all front door areas of the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, including medical and surgical admission units, the emergency department and the Acute Frailty Unit.
* Work within the current pattern of 12.5 hour shifts, providing cover 365 days a year from 7am to 7.30pm, with flexibility as required.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience as a healthcare support worker or therapy support worker.
* Recent experience of acute hospital care.
* A genuine interest in working with older people and a keen desire to develop within the service.
Additional Information
* Existing permanent employees must discuss this opportunity with their substantive line manager. The secondment policy can be accessed for guidance; without approval for a secondment, progression to a fixed term post is not possible.

Employment terms and rights
* From 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 to 36 hours; part-time hours will be reduced pro-rata with a corresponding increase in hourly rate so pay is not affected.
* A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.
