About The Role
Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Senior Planner to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland. This role is part of the Project Controls team, supporting planning activities for the M&E scope and collaborating with Project Managers, engineers and clients to develop and manage schedules that incorporate risk, change and resource requirements.
What you’ll be doing
As an M&E Senior Planner you will be a fundamental part of our Project Controls team, responsible for providing planning support and ensuring schedules reflect project needs.
* Lead the M&E Planning team with interface to other business units/lead planners
* Lead, mentor and coach the team of planning engineers across the multi-discipline scopes of work
* Develop, control, monitor, analyse and report on schedule aspects for designated projects
* Establish and monitor resource-loaded, logic-linked baseline plans in line with project and corporate processes
* Capture project budgetary costs and resources in the plan to time-phasing of expenditure
* Establish robust Work Breakdown Structures in terms of project scope and execution strategy
* Interface with other departments to capture data input to the schedule and portfolio
* Facilitate acceptance of the project plan and ensure it is achievable
* Maintain and control project baselines in line with client procedures
* Explain the reasons for changes to the baseline plan and communicate implications to the wider project team
* Lead on Earned Value Management (EVM) within project schedules
* Challenge schedule and cost variances against the baseline plan and wider portfolio
* Integrate third-party schedules (vendors & subcontractors) into the overall project plan
* Regularly interface with the project controls team to maintain an aligned portfolio
* Attend and guide progress meetings and maintain client/subcontractor contact
* Discuss and review plans with management to identify construction priorities and strategy
* Lead project risk analysis sessions and prepare risk mitigation plans
* Ensure project documentation is maintained in line with procedures
* Prepare and present detailed planning information (Gantt charts etc) for the project team
* Report slippages against baselines and advise on potential impacts
* Collate and disseminate data required for monthly reporting
* Oversee subcontractors’ schedules/reporting and ensure contractual outcomes
* Assist with people management and resourcing of the project
* Embrace learning and development opportunities and live the Balfour Beatty Values
* Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm and support sustainability activities
Notes: Ensuring documents are compliant with latest works information and kept up to date and reviewed at minimum every 6 months.
Who we’re looking for
The successful candidate will have the following personal qualities and experience:
* Experience across the project lifecycle (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation/Commissioning processes)
* Excellent Primavera (P6) knowledge and experience
* Experience in building cost and resource-loaded plans
* High level of numeracy and excellent analytical skills
* Understanding in estimating, scheduling, programming and risk tools in the Project Controls market
* Experience/understanding of Earned Value Analysis
* Relevant experience in Project Controls and/or Project Delivery, preferably in a highly regulated environment
* Ability to interact confidently with a project team
* Smart, driven, agile and influential with a focus on delivering outcomes
