Vehicle Technician
Location: Lincoln
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum
Jointline is currently seeking a skilled and reliable Workshop HGV Mechanic to join our team. The role is based in the Lincoln workshop with responsibility for ensuring our highway, central and construction division vehicles are ready to go out at any time. The role also includes maintaining and repairing our plant, equipment, and vehicles in line with our operators’ undertakings and vehicle construction and use regulations.
Responsibilities
* Inspect the HGV and light commercial fleet in line with operator licence compliance requirements.
* Inspect plant engines, mechanical and electrical components to diagnose issues accurately.
* Inspect vehicle electrical systems for repair, maintenance and upgrade.
* Conduct routine maintenance (replacing fluids, lubricants, parts etc.) to ensure vehicle and plant functionality and longevity.
* Schedule future maintenance sessions with the support of the transport manager.
* Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts.
* Provide accurate and up‑to‑date maintenance records of work carried out.
* Maintain equipment and tools in the workshop in line with company SSOW.
* Inspect and service vehicles, compressors, plant and hand power tools in line with the company maintenance schedule.
* Keep accurate records of inspections, repairs and parts used on vehicle or plant equipment.
* Order oil, lubricants and parts using the company purchase order system; all parts ordered must have a matching purchase order.
* Ensure all parts are booked to the relevant vehicle, plant or power tool.
* Pass delivery notes to the transport manager.
* Check waste oil tank levels weekly and advise the transport manager if the oil needs to be emptied.
Work Schedule
Your hours will be Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 17:00, including a 1‑hour break. Flexibility is required in this fast‑paced industry, including occasional work on breakdowns. Overtime is available.
Essential qualifications
* Proven experience as an HGV mechanic, ideally with commercial vehicles, plant machinery or in a workshop environment.
* Driving licence (required).
* Sound understanding of vehicle mechanics, electrical systems and hydraulic systems.
* Knowledge of DVSA regulations and operator licence compliance requirements.
* NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent qualification (preferred).
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A proactive approach with a strong focus on safety, quality and reliability.
