<div><h3>Systemic Family Therapist for Fostering, Adoption and Permanence</h3><p><b>The closing date is 01 July 2026</b></p><p>An exciting opportunity for a Systemic Family Therapist on the Children in Care Health Team and Specialist CAMHS team for Fostering, Adoption and Permanence covering the Dorset Council area. Newly qualified Family Therapists will be considered for a progression post.</p><p>As a Systemic Family Therapist you will provide assessments and interventions for children, young people, and their families/carers within the context of care, adoption, and kinship arrangements.</p><p>You will work autonomously delivering specialist Family Therapy provision to young people and their families, and be confident in consultation, supervision and training of colleagues.</p><p>We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic team member who will improve outcomes for children in care and care‑experienced young people.</p><p>As an integral member of the team you will work clinically with families and support the team to ensure systemic thinking and understanding lie at the centre of the clinical service.</p><p><b>This is a part‑time post of 30 hours per week. Flexible working would be considered if the service needs are met.</b></p><p><b>Applicants requiring Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible for this position.</b></p><h3>Main duties of the job</h3><ul><li>Provide systemic assessments and interventions for fostering, adoption and kinship care services.</li><li>Assess the needs of carers experiencing high relational distress that destabilises care arrangements.</li><li>Address complex family dynamics, promote emotional wellbeing and improve placement stability using evidence‑based systemic practice.</li><li>Develop systemic formulations for carers to enhance understanding of relational dynamics within the family system.</li><li>Embed systemic thinking within clinical pathways, e.g., NVR, and participate in service‑wide clinical pathways for systemic interventions.</li><li>Offer family therapy consultation and supervision to multi‑agency colleagues, especially local authority staff.</li><li>As a B8a Systemic Psychotherapist, hold additional responsibilities for consultation, supervision and training across the CiC health service and system, and manage a caseload of families with the highest level of need and complexity.</li></ul><h3>Person Specification</h3><h3>Educational / Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Masters or Doctoral level qualification in Systemic Psychotherapy</li><li>Eligibility for UKCP registration</li><li>Registration as a clinical supervisor</li></ul><h3>Skills / Experience / Knowledge</h3><ul><li>Experience as a family therapist working within childrens services</li><li>Knowledge of legislation and national guidance relating to the client group</li><li>Knowledge of NICE guidance recommendations for client group</li><li>Knowledge of safeguarding procedures</li><li>Experience of working with Children in Care or Care Experienced Young People</li></ul><h3>Additional Requirements</h3><ul><li>Subject to the Equality Act, able to travel using own vehicle on Trust business</li></ul><h3>Personal Qualities / Aptitudes</h3><ul><li>Excellent interpersonal skills.</li><li>Excellent communication, organisational and service development skills.</li><li>Willingness to be flexible and work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure the best therapeutic approach to children and families.</li></ul><h3>Disclosure and Barring Service Check</h3><p>This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
